The oldest continually operated Saloon in North America dating back to the late 1700s. The only Licensed alcohol establishment in Maryland to exist before, during, and after prohibition. The Horse you Came in on Saloon has been at the heart of Baltimore's local live music scene for over five decades. Hosting over one-thousand live music performances per year, you're certain to catch some great local live acoustic tunes on during your stay. Offering a full lunch and dinner menu featuring a combination of classic pub fare, south of the border favorites, and local crab-centric items such as our Crab Pretzel, and Angus Certified Philly Crab Cheesesteak. The portions are generous, so come hungry. Local legend has it that "The Horse" was a favorite drinking spot for the talented American author and Poet, Edgar Allan Poe. The facts around Mr.Poe's death remain a mystery; however it has been suggested and believed by many that The Horse You Came In On was his last stop before his passing. Through the years many employees & patrons alike have experienced what they believe paranormal activities at the hand of Mr.Poe (some employees, going as far as resigning from their duties). The Horse is the largest on premise Jack Daniel's Bar in the state of Maryland.
