- The Kern County Engineering & Survey Services Department is a service organization that facilitates land development for Kern County, located in California. There are a number of sections that make up the department. Departmental sections include building inspection; code compliance; county surveyor, which reviews tract, parcel and record-of-survey maps to comply with California state law and local ordinance and provides drafting, mapping and graphic design services for its own and other departments; public information counter, which contains for public viewing and research historic surveying, mapping and aerial photographic records; drainage section that designs, maintains and monitors pollutant discharges from the county's storm water management infrastructure; engineering services that reviews and inspects street, sewer, water, drainage and grading plans for county projects and development permits; and county service area section that administers all the county service areas. The Kern County Engineering & Survey Services Department is located in Bakersfield, Calif.
