The Washington Township/Avon Fire Department works to meet the property and economic well-being needs of residents and businesses though its safeguard programs. It offers information related to severe weather conditions and poisoning prevention, as well as the Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program. The department also provides Strap-N-Snap, which is a bike safety program that focuses on the wear and use of helmets. It conducts a range of training sessions that are in compliance with the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). The Washington Township/Avon Fire Department issues fire protection permits and offers building construction plan reviewing services. Additionally, it conducts fire safety inspections and investigations for arson crimes and incendiary, accidental, undetermined and natural fires.
