Law Enforcement Bureau provides public safety and crime prevention services. The department is operated by Travis County Sheriff's Office, which is a member of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce. It operates a victim services division that offers counseling, crisis intervention, referral assistance and court support services. It intervenes in the cases of thefts, family violence, child abuse and serious assaults. Law Enforcement Bureau has a reserve unit that responds during wildfires, floods, terrorist activities and emergency situations. The department also operates a lake patrol unit that provides patrolling services and operates a fleet of boats on Lake Travis. In addition, it has an auto theft task force that conducts investigations and locates and recovers stolen vehicles. Law Enforcement Bureau maintains a location in Austin, Texas.
