Garza Independence High School, established in 1998, is a college preparatory school that has an annual enrollment of more than 300 students in grades 11 and 12. It has a staff of over 50 full-time certified teachers and paraprofessionals that includes computer technicians, program facilitators, counselors, nutritionists, intervention specialists, librarians and custodians. Garza Independence High School offers academic classes in a variety of subjects, such as social science, English, physics, math, career and business education, Spanish, and physical and health education. The school is a part of the Austin Independent School District, which is one of the largest school systems in Texas and serves nearly 81,900 students in over 115 educational institutions.
