  Having this service in the CSG office is convenient for patients and enables them to avoid a trip to a facility.

• Mammography
  We evaluate breast lumps to determine the need for further treatment, including cyst aspirations or minimally invasive needle biopsies, thus avoiding a trip to the operating room. These core needle biopsies require an incision the size of a pencil eraser and patients can resume most normal activities. These provide results as accurate as an open biopsy in the operating room. Noncancerous growths may even be treated with cryoablation to prevent further growth using one of the only machines available for this in Central Texas. CSG surgeons may use either mammography or ultrasonography to identify and biopsy the abnormalities in the breast so small that they cannot be felt. The procedures are done under local anesthesia and pathology results are usually available in 24 hours.
