Excelsior Youth Center, located in Aurora, Colo., is a residential treatment program established in 1973, serving girls of ages 11 to 18 years with emotional and behavioral disorders. It specializes in providing treatment and education to young women to enhance their successful reintegration into their families and communities. The agency s day treatment educational program serves young women of ages 12 to18 years, who are behaviorally and emotionally able to reside safely in the community but cannot attend public schools. The program provides an alternative school curriculum focusing on comprehensive therapeutic treatment for the students. Excelsior Youth Center s aftercare project supports the basic needs of more than 50 young women, and is supported by parents, mentors, teachers and extended relatives.
