I hired Mr. Barrett for a full home remodeled. After he completed the roof/walls and received the 2nd payment. Mr. Barrett completely disappeared and broke the contract's deadline for completion. My construction manager and I continuously reached out to him for over 3 weeks until he finally answered weeks after he was supposed to be done with the project. Now he has disappeared again, and has disconnected his phone. I've gotten multiple other numbers he listed with the city, and all are disconnected as well.

My horrific concerns were realized when I got another general contractor to inspect the work he left behind. I find out he never finished the roof/ walls leaving literally opened areas for rain to run through. After a rainy night days ago, I find out the work he did do was a disaster as multiple rooms are soaking wet.

Additionally, Mr. Barrett lied to me about being a general contractor, which he is not. After we signed the contract and Mr. Barrett to start the job, I find out he never pulled nor could he pull permits for the job. I didn't realize how shady this was at the time, but he charged me $2,000 to have a licensed general contractor pull the permits for him. On top of that, I find out from the general contractor who pulled the permit that Mr. Barrett cheated him out of $1,000 as he only gave him half. After further investigation with the city, I find Mr. Barrett was not at all licensed for any of the work he quoted me for.

I am now pursuing legal channels to litigate Mr. Barrett for fraud, violation of contract, and damages done to my property as a consequence of his poor craftsmanship. He has completely went silence cutting off all communications.
