RaceTrac Petroleum operates more than 525 retail gasoline convenience stores in 12 southeastern states. A standard RaceTrac gasoline station features 20 to 24 fueling positions and a 4,000-square-foot convenience store that features more than 4,000 items. This represents a remarkable evolution since its beginning in 1934. The company has two distinct operating divisions, RaceTrac and RaceWay. RaceTrac convenience stores are company-owned and operated. RaceWay stores are leased to a third-party contract operator. Candidates for the operation of a RaceWay must have retail or gas convenience experience, as they will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the store. RaceTrac's current strategy is to grow its market presence each year within its current geographical area. It plans to build between 35 and 45 new locations each year for the next few years.
