General Info
Central has been a liberal, progressive Christian church in Atlanta since 1882. As part of the United Church of Christ, we look to the teachings of Jesus for guidance as we seek to foster the emergence of God's realm of justice and peace. We are an Open and Affirming church with a Safe Church practice. Members at Central join with each other as we simultaneously make our journeys as individuals and as a community. Each person is responsible to make their faith their own. We recognize that the Love of God calls us to accomplish things we cannot do alone. Safe Church Central Congregational United Church of Christ ( Central ) is committed to creating and maintaining programs, facilities, and a community in which members, staff, volunteers, and friends can worship, learn, and work together in an atmosphere free from all forms of discrimination, harassment, exploitation, and intimidation. All involved be adequately prepared and educated for the ministry in which they serve others, and to understand the ways in which their use or misuse of authority may impact others. The congregation has established policies and procedures, screening and training of staff and volunteers, and the prevention education of the congregation in the following areas: Sexual misconduct and physical abuse, including legal reporting requirements. Other forms of harassment based on race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, or physical ability.
