- Brown College, founded in 1972, offers educational programs in court reporting, medical transcription and information reporting. The college provides instruction in shorthand theory and a program for building typing speeds up to 225-words per minute, as per the standards of the National Court Reporters Association for their registered professional reporter certification. Its students receive training in English grammar, spelling and punctuation, medical, legal and technical terminology and concepts, real-time computer technology, keyboard skills, and court and freelance externships. The college s medical transcription program instructs students in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, English grammar and punctuation, business procedures, professional development, keyboard skills and word processing, software programs and medicolegal issues. Brown College is approved by the Accrediting Commission of the Council on Occupational Education, and is a member of American Association for Medical Transcription and the Georgia Private School Association. It is located in Atlanta.
