Carl Vinson Institute of Government, located in Athens, Ga., offers a range of educational programs related to issues and challenges facing the state of Georgia. The institute offers programs, such as public manager training and development, legislative education, civic education, Georgia studies, law-related education and graduate studies. Additionally, it offers the Georgia legislative intern program under which 30 interns from public and private universities and colleges throughout the state are selected annually to serve as interns during the legislative session. The institute was established at the University of Georgia in 1927 to provide a forum to study international, national, state and local affairs and to make recommendations for improved governance.
