Athens Academy is an independent, nonprofit college preparatory coeducational school founded in 1967. The school educates more than 850 students in prekindergarten through grade 12. Its curriculum includes mathematics, language arts, social studies, science and technology, business studies, computer science, English, music, drama, physical education, and arts and crafts. The school also offers advanced placement and honors courses in various subjects. It has athletic teams for football, basketball, cheerleading, swimming, baseball, cross country, soccer, golf, tennis and volleyball. The school s library and media center offers a wide variety of print and electronic resources for research, communication and relaxation to students and teachers. Located in Athens, Ga., the academy is spread over an area of more than 105 acres and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
