General Info

I enjoy partnering with patients on their health care journeys through all stages of life. I strive to deliver optimal care using an evidence-based approach. Getting to truly know my patients is very important to me and the foundation to building the ultimate patient-doctor relationship. I am sports medicine trained and believe all patients are athletes in different stages of the game. When applicable, I enjoy using osteopathic manipulative treatment to help facilitate the body’s natural tendency toward self-healing. I am dually board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. I have many years of sideline sports coverage spanning from youth sports through Division I college sports. I served as the head team physician for both women’s basketball and men’s soccer at Virginia Tech for several years prior to becoming a family medicine residency program director and becoming more involved in academic medicine. I also have experience serving as the medical director of medical education for the department of family and community medicine at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children and extended family. We spend most of our free time at sports venues feeding the love our children have for sports activities. I also enjoy coaching their sports teams and getting involved in other community outreach. Serving the community in which I live is very important to me.
