Established in 1917, West Buncombe Elementary School is a full-service educational facility that serves more than 700 students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. It offers classes in various subjects, such as social studies, mathematics, science, music, art and physical education. The school conducts reading and writing skills development classes for students with developmental disabilities. In addition, West Buncombe Elementary School offers an accelerated reader program and operates a chess club. The school also conducts regular parent-teacher associations and conferences. It is a part of Buncombe County Schools, which also governs Hominy Valley Elementary School, Cane Creek Middle School and Black Mountain Elementary School. West Buncombe Elementary School is located in Asheville, N.C.
