- UltrasoundOur primary care sports medicine physicians are trained in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound for both diagnostic purposes as well as image guidance for therapeutic procedures, allowing precise placement of medications or regenerative products. Â Primary care sports medicine also includes exercise prescription and clearance and rehabilitation recommendations.

- OrthopedicsAll orthopedic surgeons are originally general orthopedists. Following medical school all orthopedists train during their five year residency. During the fourth year, residents make a choice of going into practice or to pursue a fellowship. Fellowships are an additional year of training in a more focused area of the field of orthopedics. After successful completion of residency, residents are eligible to sit for step one of the board exam. Those who pass are board eligible until they complete step two, the oral exam. The American Board of Orthopedic Surgery determines eligibility for board certification.

- Joint ReplacementIn February, 2017, Dr. Marc Barnett M.D. Orthopedic Surgeon with Asheville Orthopaedic Associates, an affiliate of Mission Health, along with Betsy Kain PA-C, Ashley Harn RN, Corey Shaffer RN and Jake Fox CST will be traveling from Asheville North Carolina to Nicaragua to be a part of Operation – Walk Nicaragua. Giving valuable time and expertise to performing vital orthopedic and joint replacement surgeries at no charge to indigent people in communities across Nicaragua. For many, these vital surgeries are life changing experiences in a region of the world where such procedures are almost impossible to afford and dream of.
- Orthopedic SurgeryThe physicians at Asheville Orthopaedic Associates are committed to making a difference in your care experience through correct diagnosis and treatment of presenting problems. They have received specialized training in orthopedic surgery and in subspecialty areas within the field of orthopedic medicine. The physicians are supported by a professional staff of physician assistants, registered nurses, certified athletic trainers, registered orthopaedic technologists and x-ray technicians as well as administrative personnel.

- Knee ReplacementA donation will help towards the cost of paying for equipment, expenses of the trip, travel, lodging, food for the team members. It also goes toward surgical instruments, implants and medications. The goal for the week the team are there is to do 42 total knee replacement surgeries. We have set a fundraising goal of $20,000.

- Occupational TherapyDepending on the injury, many hand and wrist conditions can be treated without surgery; our specialists can recommend hand therapy, or a combination of physical and occupational therapy to restore movement and reduce or eliminate pain. When surgical repair is necessary, we will assist you throughout the entire process.
- Ankle SprainOur providers deliver specialized care for foot and ankle injuries and disorders. Depending on the injury, many foot and ankle conditions can be treated without surgery. Early intervention provides the best outcome for relieving pain and discomfort.
