The historical Princess Anne Hotel has an interesting story, that has always put caring first. The current owners continue in this tradition and truly make the guest feel pampered.
They have a made to order breakfast menu that changes daily with optional room service.
The rooms are spacious with a separate kitchenette/living room. The bedroom has a separate air conditioner controller which I enjoyed.
This beautifully restored hotel has endearing qualities that are remnants of bygone eras. The old world hardwood floors have a bit of bevel to their gorgeously restored surface. The antique elevator, while kept to modern safety standards, has some historical tricks that the friendly staff happily share with guests. The plumbing is modernized at the amenities but still the original style throughout the building. They use steam radiators as a primary winter heating source, but the in room air conditioners allow you to set the temperature to exactly what is comfortable for you. The sink was in the bedroom rather than the bathroom. They turned it into an enchanting feature with thoughtful lighting that my wife enjoyed while "dolling up" her beautiful face that never needs any help to enchant my heart.
The historical atmosphere is augmented with modern amenities that seem carefully curated to blend in rather than to overtake. These include: LED televisions in the living room as well as the bedroom; a Nespresso coffee maker with a wide selection of pods available in the room and at the front desk; microwave, induction stove top, and mini fridge; as well as a very interesting "sunrise simulator" alarm clock at the bedside.
The bed is comfortable with a nice, soft, heavy, extra blanket.
The entire building was thoroughly clean with great thoughtfulness given to the details.
I found this place by chance but it became one of my favorite bed and breakfasts immediately. I'll definitely bring staying here on future trips to beautiful Asheville.
