At Frugal Backpacker, we believe in spending less and playing more. Established 11 years ago, our store was born out of the need to provide quality outdoor gear to fill the void between the high-end outfitter stores and the lower-end, big box stores such as Wal-Mart or Target. It is our belief that we can better serve you by providing quality products at great prices, rather than simply providing more cheap gear and equipment that would ultimately lead to a negative experience. How do we do this? We provide a unique mix of well known, quality brands at discounted prices through established vendor sample sets, inventory overruns, discontinued and closeout products, and selective brands that are in line, year-round products to round out the store’s product offering. We carry brands such as Columbia, Patagonia, Merrell, Keen, Kelty, Gregory, Deuter, Woolrich, Mountain Hardwear, Teva, Salomon, Brooks, Marmot, Arcteryx, Kavu, and Toad & Co., among others. Even though we are considered a discount store, we have a highly trained staff of enthusiasts who love the outdoor lifestyle. We provide a high level of service ensuring you get the right product, for the right activity, at the right price. Our staff includes AT thru-hikers, class V+ kayakers, and world travelers, so whether you need gear and equipment for a bucket list adventure, or just need a comfortable clothing and a pack for exploring Western North Carolina’s beautiful backyard, you’re in good hands.
