Located in Arlington, Va., Parole and Probation is a state government-operated unit that offers investigation and risk assessment services. The unit promotes public safety and supervises offenders in community settings. Parole and Probation also provides mental health treatment and counseling services. The unit is a part of the Community Corrections Division of the Virginia Department of Corrections. The Community Corrections Division operates various day reporting, detention and diversion centers. In addition, the division offers substance abuse testing, assessment and treatment services. It provides employment assistance and support services. The Community Corrections Division processes more than 15,000 probation and parole cases.
