      American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries, also known as ASPPA, is a national organization for career retirement plan professionals. It offers a range of educational programs for retirement plan and benefits professionals and preserves and enhances the private pension system. The society has more than 6,000 members that include actuaries, consultants, administrators, insurance professionals, financial planners, accountants, attorneys and human resource managers. Founded in 1966, the society sponsors an examination series for actuaries to certify their professional competence in actuarial and consulting aspects of pensions. The society also conducts several educational conferences and seminars. Additionally, the society publishes a quarterly technical journal that provides an insight into legislative and regulatory developments. American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries is located in Arlington, Va.
