Company policies

Two nights ago I was in line with my family to see a movie. I was watching a manager and young lady in front of the line at the ticket counter. I couldn't help but over hear their converstation. Apparently the young girl worked there and had just gotten off of work. She didn't look like she was wearing a uniform and had just purchased tickets for her and her mom and or someone else to see a movie. I overheard the manager tell her that it was company policy that she could not see the movie since it just came out. I heard her exclaim that she had never heard of that policy and that she had purchased her tickets already. The manager told her to get a refund. Now to me this seemed really unfair and I was about to bud in as I watched the young girl with tears in her eyes; but the manager walked away. As I was about to purchase my own tickets I asked the ticket girl who that manager was and she said his name was Terry. I glanced over at the young lady who was crying and on the phone apprently with her mother or someone explaining that she was not allowed to see the movie there at SMG and that they would have to go somewhere else. I told the ticket girl that I had changed my mind and did not want to see the movie after all. What kind of company policy or good business is it to turn down a paying customer even if it is an employee. I was once a manager at a fast food resturant and never refused service to our employees to purchase something. Does this mean that if you work at Walmart that you cant buy your groceries there eithter. After watching all of this I decided that I did not want to spend my hard earned money at this theather ever again. I average at least two - three movies a month at SMG because of the location and resturants surrounding it and because my children like coming here. I am not impressed with the way they yell and scream over the loud microphone, the long lines that are confusing, and how you cant hear what they are saying. You never see an employee smile and the clientel is usually rude and talking while the movie is going on, the seats are not comfortable, tables are wobley and usualy the food service is poor not to mention the popcorn is nasty and everything is overpriced. . And now that I think of all the times I've been at SMG. it seems when I do see management talking to an employee, it never appears to be positive by the looks on the employees faces.. You would think that SMG would be a fun and happy enviroment to work at. By the looks of SMG, employees young teens probally in high school and maybe college kids. I got to thinking that this young girl could have been my very own daughter (close in age) and I would certainly not want her to be treated this way by management. I really wanted to tell this manager what a donkey he was.. As it ended up we went to a different theater and had a grat time. I definetly enjoyed the movie and the theater was operated in a more professional fun enviroment like a movie theather should be. than at SMG. From now on I refuse to go to SMG and my only regret is that I wish I had put that manager Terry in his place.

Love it!!

Have been to this theater during busy and not so busy times and have had consitantly good service. The drinks are a bit pricey but you only need one and they are quite big! I always get the salads and they are never ending but delicious!! My husband gets something different everytime and has never had a bad experience. The managment team has stopped by several times just to check in to make sure the guests are having a fine time which is always welcome!! I recommend this place for a date or family outting, tons of fun :)!

"It's our Policy to not let you Reserve Seats?"

If you want to sit with your family, don't go to the Studio Movie Grill. I'm a 44 year old mother of daughters who are away at college. During their winter break, we went to the movies, as a family, for my niece's 18th birthday. My husband and I arrived 1st and purchased 8 tickets. I went into the theatre to reserve our seats, all 8 of them. After all, 8 tickets allot for 8 seats. Right? I even picked 8 seats on the very front row so we could ALL sit together. My husband stood in the lobby to hand out tickets to each arriving movie goer in our party. 4 of the 6 arrived within 5 minutes of me saving our seats. So, we were only missing 2 of the 8. Within 5 minutes of the movie previews to start, an usher comes in and tells me that I can't save seats. Even though my niece and her boyfriend were on their way in (parking at the Arlington theatre means you are parking down by the Pet Store or Staples down the strip)...I spoke to the manager and he gave me back my money. He forfeited movie tickets and dinner for 8 so that 3 high school students could sit together in the seats I saved that I bought tickets for??? He gave me back my $60.75...my party of 8 drove 3 miles down the street and bought tickets to the same movie for 8 for $48.00 at the Movie Tavern. We saved almost $13. And Movie Tavern was very accommodating and ensured that we would have a great family night. I sent an e-mail to the owner, VP of SMG...they called me back and said "their policy is to not let you reserve seats." So, the moral of the story is, if you and your family arrive at the movies at separate times, don't go to Studio Movie Grill. You may not get to sit with your guests. And its nice to know that SMG is doing so well in our economy that they can turn away business. Movie Tavern gets my money now!!!

A Great Escape

From the plush seating to the variety of meal choices on the menu, this is a great escape on the weekend. Most people like to eat before or after the movie and this is the best of both worlds. The theater is also pretty clean which unfortunately is not always the case with the some venues. I give it two thumbs up!

Good Food

We have tried many different things from their menu & they have all been good. Fun place to go see a movie if you are hungry & wanting to eat a meal at the same time.

Its ok every now and then

This place is cool and fun, its different and thats why we like it but the movie is SOO loud its hard for me to sit there, it literally hurts my ears & the food is pretty pricy and is always pretty cold when it gets to your table, and to pay the $10.00 for chicken strips i want them to be fresh and hot, but they hardley ever are, dont get me wrong it has a good taste but I dont want to eat my dinner cold!...It is nice to be able to go ONE place for dinner and a movie but they should definitly improve on some things

My Experiences Were Good

I saw 28 Weeks Later and the latest Harry Potter movie here.

I ordered a hamburger and it was good. I can't say anything bad about this place based on my visits. :) So I recommend going.

nice building brown salad

My family and I frequent another movie dinning place often. We decided to try Studio Movie Grill last Friday since they were showing a movie we wanted to see at the right time. Well my salad tasted ok but no real fresh when we left and opened the to-go box the lettuce was all brown. No wonder it tasted that way. Sorry to say no more salads "if" we ever go back.

Nice atmosphere, Bad Presentation

This theatre has a great staff. Pricing is good and the concession is wonderful. So what leaves a bad taste in our mouths on just about every visit? The projection presentation. Whomever is the tech. here should have their ears and eyes examined. Problems range from muffled sound, flickering images, movies out of frame, masking covering film, etc.
