Went to the Santa Anita race track for the first time with my family and we had a blast. I highly recommend going there for the day. The track is great.

This place is surprisingly great for kids. Start with breakfast at Clocker's Corner (open every morning until 10 -- free admission and parking this early) to watch the jockeys put their horses through their paces. (You may even run into legendary horse trainer Bob Baffert). If you stick around until around noon, the playground in the center of the track is open to kids and you can watch some of the day's races. There's also a cool Seabiscuit tour you can take. Scenic views of the mountains and amazing Art Deco architecture.
