The Angleton Police Department, formed in 1953, employs a staff of more than 50 sworn officers and civilian personnel. It operates a citizens police academy that provides training on a variety of topics, such as domestic violence, defensive tactics, criminal investigations, courtroom testimonies and firearms instruction. The Angleton Police Department organizes several community outreach programs that work towards educating and involving youths in police operations and building mutual understanding within the community. The department maintains patrol and investigations divisions. It also has a communications unit that takes incoming phone calls and complaints for police services and dispatches patrol officers.
