Founded in 1974, Calhoun Academy of the Arts is an elementary school that maintains art studios, music labs, drama rooms and media centers. The school offers learning opportunities to children through the utilization of various arts. It is governed by Anderson School District Five, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools, as well as early childhood education centers. Calhoun Academy of the Arts also houses a 650-plus-seat auditorium. Anderson School District Five operates through techonology, curriculum, adult education, nursing services, and finance and operations departments. The district s schools operate parent-teacher organizations that participate in fundraisers and other academic welfare activities.
