Established in 1969, the Alaska Mechanical Contractors Association offers membership options for plumbing and sheet metal contractors, as well as unions. It acts as the bargaining party for a model contract with the unions that is used by all signatory contractors in the geographic area covered by these contracts. The association s members are involved as contractor representatives on the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees for plumbers and sheet metal apprenticeship programs. It is comprised of apprenticeship, code, education, legislative, negotiating, service, and health and welfare committees. The association s education committee offers state-certified classes for continuing education requirements for mechanical administrator s licenses, as well as other educational opportunities. The Alaska Mechanical Contractors Association also offers membership options in national organizations, such as the National Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association.
