Be Warned!!! – Many firms use appearance counsel for court appearances and 341(a) meetings. This means you show up at court or for your 341(a) meeting of creditors and an attorney who you have never seen before starts calling out your name until you respond. Then that unknown attorney appears with you before the Panel Trustee, Chapter 13 Trustee, United States Trustee, or the assigned Bankruptcy Judge. Before you hire a firm to represent you, confirm that the attorney who you have met with will be appearing with you personallyand not using appearance counsel.
