Zophar Mills produces wax, asphalt and plumbing compounds, pitches and coatings. The company s product line features more than 4,000 formulas. Its waxes are employed in components of small appliances, radios, televisions and batteries. Printing offices, graphic arts and newspaper companies use Zophar s adhesive waxes. The company also supplies asphalt varnishes, primers and coatings, coal tar and vinyl strip coatings; marine glue, roof coatings and cement; brewer, optician and burgundy pitch; and processed resins and pitches. Municipalities, beverage companies and fisheries use Zophar asphalt base coating for potable water tanks. Its coal tar coatings protect pumps and underground irrigation pipes in the Southern United States and Hawaii. Zophar Mills was founded in 1846 and is based in North Amityville, N.Y.
