Stavros Center for Independent Living is a nonprofit organization that was established in 1974 and offers a wide variety of services for people with disabilities. Located in Amherst, Mass., it is an independent living center that provides independent living and deaf services in Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden counties in Massachusetts. Its independent living services provide counseling, skills training, general encouragement and support to people with disabilities. The center offers various personal assistance services that serves people with long-term disabilities and provides assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, taking medication and personal grooming. It offers a variety of other services, including housing, training, equipment loan programs, transportation, referral and technical assistance.
