Founded in 1967, Center for Extended Care provides continuing health care and skilled nursing services. It offers a wide range of comprehensive rehabilitation services, including therapeutic recreation programs, and physical, occupational and speech therapies. The center also provides assisted living services at its Arbors at Amherst facility, and it offers a wide range of residential living services, such as personal care, meals and social activities. Its Dharma Unit provides special care services for people with Alzheimer s disease and other forms of dementia. It offers various special features and services, which include secure environment, nursing care, certified staff, behavior programming and photosensitive lighting. In addition, it provides activity programs, family support groups and hospice services. Center for Extended Care provides services for short- and long-term residents, and is located in Amherst, Mass.
