General Info
In May 1970, a young man discovering his future took a chance with a closed down barbecue restaurant near the college town of Ames, Iowa. With much ambition, a little know-how and a seating capacity of 60, the legend of Hickory Park Restaurant started. The restaurant was known for its barbecue and basic American cuisine. The restaurant became a popular place for Iowa State Cyclone fans on game day. The restaurant has grown and moved its locations for a larger facility. The restaurant also is known for its ice cream sundaes that include a wide assortment of toppings, not to mention the generous portions. The casual-dining restaurant is open year round.

Visited there because we heard they had a reputation of being the best barbeque around the area....had the sliced beef and pork....like cheap, bad lunch meat ...came in a perfect round circle...prices inexpensive but would have rather have paid more and gotten something worth eating.
