The city of Altus, Okla., Public Works Department includes Altus Power and the Sanitation Department. Altus Power operates the city s water and electric utilities. It also provides 24-hour emergency electric and water service. It receives deposits and payment at the department s Commerce Street location. Altus Power also determines sewage and garbage rates. The Sanitation Department is located on West Pecan. Its mission is to keep Altus clean by picking up a variety of debris around the city. The department has several types of trucks, including a commercial side loader, residential side loaders and flatbed trucks. The department operates several regular dumpster pick-up routes and will also haul away furniture, appliances, bathroom fixtures and tree limbs.
