West Elementary School, located in Alton, Ill., is one of the 16 schools in the Alton Community Unit School District 11, teaching students from grades one through eight. The school maintains a modern facility, offering art, math, English, physical education, social sciences, music and science classes. It provides a range of services, including counseling, transportation, meals, gifted education program and vocational education. Alton Community Unit School District 11 enrolls more than 7,000 students from kindergarten to high school and is the governing body of institutions, such as Alton High, East Middle, North Middle, Gilson Brown and Early Childhood. The district also runs the Alton Educational Foundation that provides grants, scholarships and financial aids to deserving students in the community.
