I just bought my prom dress at Jon's Bridal by Suzanne and it is the best dress boutique I've been to! As a plus sized girl, shopping for formal wear can be daunting but their staff went out of their way to help me. I bought a bridesmaid dress at a chain bridal shop and it did not compare in terms of service, selection, and atmosphere. They even register dresses by school to avoid copy-cats. As a note: shop early for best selection. I started shopping late in the game and even though I have a lovely, affordable dress, there was a lot more a month ago. Shop here!
