The Albuquerque City Council is the legislative authority of Albuquerque, N.M. It consists of more than five members and the council provides services for the development of the city. The city has various departments, including municipal and economic development, cultural service, planning, solid waste management, water utility, aviation, police, and parks and recreation. Its fire department is comprised of more than 650 uniformed personnel who serve over 440,000 residents. It provides emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
