The Akron Police Department-Traffic Bureau enforces traffic laws and responds to complaints regarding parking and speed violations. The bureau also maintains hit skip and commercial vehicle weight enforcement units. Its accident reconstruction unit investigates fatal crashes and serious injury or felony accidents. In addition, it responds to officer requests for crash analysis, evaluates equipment requisitions and assists in criminal investigations. The Akron Police Department handles various crime-related issues and maintains patrol, traffic, K-9, training bureaus. The department has a Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) team that conducts drug raids, deals with barricaded suspects and hostage situations. It also supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) program. The Akron Police Department is located in Akron, Ohio.
