Operational since 1947, the Abilene YMCA is a nonprofit organization with a presence in Abilene, Texas. The organization employs lifeguards, fitness instructors, maintenance personnel, and after-school and summer day camp counselors. Its facilities include swimming pools, locker rooms, saunas, gymnasiums, running tracks, and racquetball and handball courts. The Abilene YMCA provides a variety of family-centered child care programs. The organization s after-school programs are licensed by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Its fitness classes include yoga, water aerobics, cycling and kickboxing. The Abilene YMCA supports several sports activities, such as racquetball, baseball, basketball and soccer. The organization also offers private and group swimming classes for children, youths and adults.
